Knockdown of Act42A through expression of Act42A^GD1350 under the control of Scer\GAL4^dpp.blk1 causes 89% of the wings having fewer campaniform sensilla. Loss of other types of es organs including post-vertical bristles, macrochaetae and microchaetae.

Knockdown of Act42A through expression of Act42A^GD1350 under the control of Scer\GAL4^dpp.blk1, results in the absence of the precursors and precursor progeny of the three campaniform sensilla.

Adults expressing Act42A^GD1350 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4^pnr-MD237 results in lethality or semi-lethality at the pupal stage, depending on the insertion line used.
