Expression of HUWE1^GD13830 under the control of Scer\GAL4^ptc-559.1 results in small, underdeveloped larval salivary glands that, although containing roughly the same number of cells as controls, show small nuclei and a severe decrease in DNA content, despite of no statistically significant change in endoreplication (assessed by EdU labelling). Co-expression of Dicer-2 (for a more efficient RNAi), induces small larval salivary glands, that exhibit small nuclei, prominent apoptosis (TUNEL assay), and a severe decrease in endoreplication (assessed by EdU labelling), as compared to controls.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4^Hey.PO induces an aberrant endoreplication cycle in the larval salivary gland.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4^sca-C253 also induces small, underdeveloped larval salivary glands.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4^ey.PU (in combination with Dicer-2, for an efficient RNAi) results in small eye discs and small adult eyes.

Adults expressing CG8184^GD13830 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
