UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in late pupal lethality.
Fit1GD17050, Scer\GAL4Hand.PA has cardial cell | adult stage phenotype, enhanceable by Fit2GD1300, Scer\GAL4Hand.PA
Expression of P{GD17050} (which is predicated to target Fit2 as a secondary target, as well as Fit1) under the control of Scer\GAL4Hand.PA leads to the loss of the cardiac syncytium in the adult heart. The distance between cardiomyocytes is ten-fold greater than in controls. Heart beat rate is not different from wild type, but the fractional shortening (distance the heart moves between diastole and systole) is greatly reduced and the end systolic diameter is increased compared to wild type. The mutant heart rhythm shows a loss of synchrony between cardiomyocytes.
Co-expression of P{GD17050} and Fit2GD1300 under the control of Scer\GAL4Hand.PA results in a severe defect in the adult heart muscle, with the cardiomyocytes showing a 'rounded-up' phenotype.
