G to A nucleotide change at the second or third position of the Trp codon leads to a nonsense mutation (exact site of mutation unspecified). Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase based on reported amino acid change.
Actβed80 mutants do not display developmental defects in neuronal remodelling of the mushroom body γ neurons.
A large fraction of homozygotes survive to the pharate adult stage and a small proportion (less than 2%) eclose. Adult escapers can not move their wings, walk very slowly and do not establish a breeding stock.
Optic lobes develop normally and photoreceptor axons target normally in mutant larvae.
Actβed80/Actβed80 is an enhancer of abnormal neuroanatomy phenotype of dawex32
Actβed80, dawex32/daw4 has lethal | larval stage phenotype
Actβed80, dawex11 has abnormal neuroanatomy phenotype
Actβed80/Actβed80 is an enhancer of embryonic/larval optic lobe phenotype of dawex32
Overall brain morphology is relatively normal in dawex11 Actβed80 double mutant larvae. However, approximately 20% of the larvae have collapsed and bundled R7 and R8 growth cones in the optic lobe (this phenotype is not seen in either single mutant).
The penetrance of the photoreceptor axon targeting phenotype seen in dawex32 homozygous larvae is increased from 4% to 50% if they are also homozygous for Actβed80.
