Local hopping of the P{lacW}SynP1 insertion has resulted in a replicative second insertion (P{lacW}SynP2) which is located in intron 9 of Syn (and also in intron 1 of the nested Timp gene).
Local hopping of P{lacW}SynP1 produces a replicative second insertion within the first intron of the Timp gene.
At 18[o]C, 23% of TimpP1+P2 flies show wing abnormalities. At 25[o]C, 3.5% exhibit wing abnormalities, indicating that penetrance and expressivity of this defect is cold-sensitive. The dorsal and ventral wing epithelia are often detached, sometimes the wings are permanently inflated with lymph or later become dry and blistered. When raised at 18[o]C, almost 4% (less than 0.5% at 25[o]C) suffer from a bloated gut. Vitality is also strongly reduced compared to wild-type.
