Expression of Dop2RdsRNA.Scer\UAS RNAi under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU results in decreased short-term memory (3 min) in an aversive olfactory memory assay compared to controls. Expression under the control of any of the following: Scer\GAL4ple.PF, Scer\GAL4NP1227, Scer\GAL4GH298, Scer\GAL4Sxl-NP2426, Scer\GAL4GH146, Scer\GAL4NP2631, Scer\GAL4Mef2.247, Scer\GAL417d or Scer\GAL4NP1131 results in a significant decrease in 3 hr olfactory memory in adult flies due decrease in its amnesia-resistant component. The RNAi expression controlled by Scer\GAL4GH146 in combination with Scer\GAL80ChAT.3.3P or by any of these drivers: Scer\GAL4Orco.PU, Scer\GAL4c320 or Scer\GAL4c305a has no effect on the 3 hr memory or its components.
Flies expressing D2RdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI show decreased locomotor activity, both in young and old flies, compared to controls. Multiple indices of locomotor activity are decreased in the mutant flies, including "total activity counts", "amount of time active" and "number of activity-rest bouts".
Expression of D2RdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 does not result in decreased activity in 7 day-old flies, but activity levels are significantly reduced in 30 day-old flies.
