Imprecise excision of the insertion in bunGE12921, resulting in a deletion that affects all bun isoforms; the deletion starts 29bp upstream of the bun common exon and extends for 641bp, removing the splice acceptor site of the common exon.

bun200B/bun200B mutant intestinal stem cell clones have significantly fewer cells and a smaller size than control clones.

Homozygotes die mostly at the larval stage.

Mosaic flies with eye and head capsules largely homozygous for bun200B (generated using the eyFLP/FRT technique) have small heads ("pinhead" phenotype). The number of ommatidia in these mosaics is significantly reduced compared to wild type and the mutant photoreceptors are smaller than the surrounding heterozygous cells.

bun200B/Df(2L)Exel6033 larvae are massively reduced in size compared to controls, reach the third larval instar with a delay of 24 hours and die within a few days of having reached this stage.
