Expression of Tom20KK107626 under the control of Scer\GAL4ple.PF results in a loss of dopaminergic (DA) neurons from the PPL1 cluster as well as mitochondrial aggregations in DA neuron in the adult brain but expression under the Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU driver has no adverse effect on adult wing posture or jumping ability.

The loss of dopaminergic (DA) PPL1 neurons along with the mitochondrial aggregations in DA neurons observed in the brains of adult flies expressing Tom20KK107626 RNAi under the control of Scer\GAL4ple.PF are partially suppressed by co-expression of Pink1Scer\UAS.cYa.

The abnormal mitochondrial aggregations (observed in flight muscles or dopaminergic neurons), wing posture and jumping ability defects as well as the loss of dopaminergic neurons from the PPL1 cluster characteristic for Pink1B9 adult homozygotes are exacerbated by expression (controlled by either the Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU muscle driver or the Scer\GAL4ple.PF neuronal driver) of Tom20KK107626. Similarly, the mitochondrial aggregations in flight muscles along with the wing posture and jumping ability defects observed in adult flies expressing Pink1dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU are further enhanced by expression of Tom20KK107626.
