Third instar larvae expressing Ntan1KK107726 under the control of Scer\GAL4repo.PU exhibit defasciculated axons and glial bulges that accumulate glial nuclei along peripheral nerves, as compared to controls; expression under the control of Scer\GAL446F does not result in nerve bulges but induces a small but significant increase in the number of perineurial glial nuclei in the long nerves A6 and A7, as compared to controls; expression under the control of Scer\GAL4nrv2.PS leads to no obvious axonal defasciculations in the abdominal peripheral nerves or changes in nuclei number of the wrapping glia, as compared to controls.

The expression of Ntan1KK107726 under the control of Scer\GAL4Gli.PU leads to bulges in peripheral nerves, associated to a severe increase in subperineurial glial cell nuclei number and to multi-nucleated cells, which is an indication of an increased endomitosis, as compared to controls; subperineurial glial cells in both the central and peripheral nervous systems are more frequently in S-phase than in controls.
