Short-term recovery from chilling at 0[o]C is significantly affected in Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI/Hsp23^KK111816 flies. After 80 minutes, all Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI/+ flies recover, while 24% of Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI/Hsp23^KK111816 flies remain in a chill coma. All flies eventually recover and no mortality is observed.

Medium-term chill-recovery tests reveal significant differences in mobility (climbing) between Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI/+ and Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI/Hsp23^KK111816 flies. Differences are manifested after 6 hours and 8 hours of recovery, with, respectively, 74% and 40% f flies still injured in Hsp23^KK111816-expressing flies with 52% and 15% in Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI heterozygotes. Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI/Hsp23^KK111816 flies show a reduction in recovery ability with time.
