UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Females expressing NPFJF02555 under the control of Scer\GAL4Tk.PS lay significantly less eggs, but similar copulation rate, as compared to controls. These females also fail to show the expected mating-induced increases in the absolute number of germline stem cells and in the proportion of dividing germline stem cells upon mating in the germarium, which are not due to changes in cell death or in cap cell number, as compared to controls. Both mated and virgin females, however, do not show changes in the mitotic index in the midgut nor in midgut diameter, as compared to controls.
Females expressing NPFJF02555 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR41D08, Scer\GAL4GMR42C03 or Scer\GAL4GMR46G06, but not Scer\GAL4NP0001, Scer\GAL4esg.PU, Scer\GAL4nSyb.PP or Scer\GAL4386Y, fail to show the expected mating-induced increase in germline stem cells in the germarium, as compared to controls.
Knockdown of NPF through expression of NPFJF02555 under the control of Scer\GAL4Tkg.PS does not affect intestinal lipid production, haemolymph triglyceride levels, or triglyceride storage.
