Most of the Mlp84BP20/Df(3R)dsx2M hemizygotes die as pupae. As a result of an apparent failure of body wall muscle contraction during puparium formation, these mutants exhibit a larger length/width ratio of the pupal cases than wild-types. The surviving adults are not healthy and usually die within one week of eclosion.
