Detailed Description

At late pharate adult stage in Nrx-1241/Df(3R)Exel6191 flies, persistent motor neurons which innervate the abdominal lateral tergosternal muscles display significantly reduced total axonal arbor length and area of arbor coverage, but no differences between total branch numbers and arbor complexity compared to wild-type controls. Additionally, there is no difference in synaptic density in motor neuron axons in the adult.

Nrx-1241/+ mutant larvae do not display any obvious defects in neuromuscular junction and active zone morphology, as compared to controls.

T-bars at active zones of the neuromuscular junction in Nrx-1241/Df(3R)5C1 third instar larvae often show an aberrant, star-shaped morphology.

The neuromuscular junctions of Nrx-1241/Df(3R)Exel6191 larvae are smaller than normal.

Nrx-1273/Nrx-1241 heterozygous larva exhibit severely impaired behavior in larval stages, being uncoordinated and sluggish.

Nrx-1241/+ suppresses the neuromuscular junction phenotypes seen in Df(3L)Spn-Δ3.1/Df(3L)BSC116 mutants.

The reduction in bouton number per muscle area seen in third instar larvae expressing Nlg1Δcyto.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR is suppressed in a Nrx-1241/Df(3R)5C1 background.
