Comment:

Deletion generated by FLP-catalyzed recombination using the FRT-containing transposons P{XP}magud00269 and PBac{WH}maguf02256.

Detailed Description

magu2 mutant wings display a characteristic truncation of longitudinal vein 5 (L5) and are considerably smaller than wild-type. The size deficit of magu2 mutant wings are mostly confined to lateral regions of the wing and reflected a reduction in cell numbers rather than cell size. Both venation and size deficits of magu2 mutant wings can be traced backed to larval stages of wing development.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

Heterozygous tkv8 suppresses the adult wing patterning defects of homozygous magu2 mutants.

The wing defects seen in magu2, dallyMH32 double mutants appear similar to the lateral patterning defects of magu2 single mutants.

Comments

The wing patterning phenotype of magu2 mutants is restored when maguScer\UAS.cVa expression is restricted to any compartment or region of the wing disc. However, 'misplacing' the source of maguScer\UAS.cVa results in wings with abnormal sizes and altered proportions.
