Expression of wgS239A.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 via Scer\GAL4nub-AC-62 causes substantial enlargement of the wing compared with controls.
Expression of wgS239A.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 with either Scer\GAL4hh-Gal4 or Scer\GAL4en-e16E leads to marked increase in the size of the posterior compartment. Compared with controls, the size of the anterior compartment is also increased, although less markedly than that of the posterior compartment.
The surface area of the territory colonised by randomly marked clones in wing imaginal discs expressing wgS239A.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 driven by Scer\GAL4hh-Gal4 is larger in the posterior compartment (where wgS239A.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 is expressed) than in the anterior compartment. Cell-doubling time appears to be reduced by about 22% on average in the wgS239A.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1-expressing posterior compartment compared to those in control anterior compartments.
Expression of wgS239A.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 driven by Scer\GAL4ap-md544 prevents complete fusion of the notum but has no effect on wing patterning (e.g. no ectopic bristles).
Scer\GAL4hh-Gal4/wgS239A.UAS.Tag:HA partially rescues wgl-17
Expression of wgS239A.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 driven by Scer\GAL4hh-Gal4 in posterior wing compartments composed of homozygous wgl-17 mutant cells substantially restores wing size and the rate of cell proliferation. Rescued wings appear well proportioned, but they lack a proper margin in the posterior compartment.
