Description

Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a proximal deletion of the inserted P{EP} element, and the fusion of the remainder of the element to the 3' half of the Mt2 coding region, thus deleting large parts of the Mt2 gene, including motifs I-VII and part of motif VIII.

Comment:

Imprecise excision of the EP(2)GE15695 P-element, deleting the proximal portion of Mt2 and leaving a remnant of the EP element upstream. The 3' end of the deletion is reported to occur somewhere in motif VIII (VPNTRYR) of Mt2 (exact position unspecified). Position of mutation on reference sequence inferred by FlyBase curator.
