Overexpression of p53Scer\UAS.P\T.cBa in the eye using Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in a reduced eye size with partial fusion of the ommatidia and some remaining bristles due to apoptosis.

Females overexpressing p53Scer\UAS.P\T.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16, which drives expression during ovarian stem cell development and also during oogenesis, are agametic with rudimentary ovaries probably due to loss of ovarian stem cells.

Overexpression of p53Scer\UAS.P\T.cBa in the follicle somatic cells using Scer\GAL4GR1 induces germline cell death and leads to egg chamber death.

Expression of p53Scer\UAS.P\T.cBa under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 significantly lowers the number of primordial germ cells in larval gonads. This appears to be through a reduction in primordial germ cell proliferation, rather than an increase in cell death (both apoptosis and autophagy).

Co-expression of lokScer\UAS.P\T.T:Ivir\HA1 with p53Scer\UAS.P\T.cBa during mid-oogenesis under the control of Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 does not block lokScer\UAS.P\T.T:Ivir\HA1-dependent cell death. The level of cell death of egg chambers is similar as when lokScer\UAS.P\T.T:Ivir\HA1 is overexpressed alone.
