Flies expressing Nmdar1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU show normal learning (memory measured immediately after conditioning) and short-term memory (assayed 1 hour after training) in an aversive olfactory conditioning assay. One-day memory after spaced training (long-term memory) and one-day memory after massed training (anesthesia-resistant memory) are normal.

Acute expression of Nmdar1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.Switch.PO (by feeding 1mM RU486 starting one day prior to training) has no effect on one-day long term memory.

Expression of Nmdar1Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of either Scer\GAL4GH146 or Scer\GAL4NP0225 in a wild-type background does not increase learning acquisition.
