Scer\GAL4Gr57a.6 drives expression in a single pair of L2 GRNs in the adult labral sense organ that are maintained during the transition from larva (where they are known as gustatory receptor neurons of the epiphysis) to adult. These neurons send axonal projections in an umbrella like pattern to the left and right dorsal regions of the subesophageal zone and co-express (in separate experiments) Scer\GAL4Gr2a.2.2, Scer\GAL4Gr23a.3.5, and Scer\GAL4Gr93d.2.4. Expression is also seen in projections from an L2 GRN in the labellum that reach into the central part of the subesophageal zone.
Scer\GAL4Gr57a.6 is expressed in gustatory neurons of 5 of the bitter-sensitive short labellar taste bristles.
Scer\GAL4Gr57a.6 is expressed in a few of the short bitter-sensitive sensilla of the labellum.
Scer\GAL4Gr57a.6 drives expression in two neurons of the larval terminal organ. One of these neurons co-expresses Scer\GAL4Gr33a.4.7, Scer\GAL4Gr39a.a.3.4, Scer\GAL4Gr66a.1.8, Scer\GAL4Gr47b.2, Scer\GAL4Gr59d.4.1 and Scer\GAL4Gr94a.3.7. The other expresses Scer\GAL4Gr33a.4.7, Scer\GAL4Gr66a.1.8 and Scer\GAL4Gr97a.1. Expression of Scer\GAL4Gr57a.6 is also detected in one neuron of the dorsal pharyngeal sense organ (DPS or epiphysis).
