ScerGAL4GMR23F01 drives expression in 9-18 embryonic/larval subesophageal ganglion neurons, 1-3 neurons in the thorax, 1-3 ventral nerve cord neurons, 0-20 Kenyon cells, 1-3 posterior dorsomedial neurons and 0-1 posterior ventromedial neurons.
Acute optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1Cs.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 625 nm (red) light) of Scer\GAL4GMR23F01 cells in larvae evokes reliable head casts, unlike controls; restriction of the number of activated cells using Scer\GAL80tsh-GAL80 does not alter this phenotype.
Inhibition (using Ctet\TeTxLCTNT.UAS) of Scer\GAL4GMR23F01 neurons in larvae results in a significant reduction in the time they spend in the vicinity of an appetitive odor, compared to controls; turn frequency is reduced and run length is slightly increased, compared to controls.
