A 3969 base pair fragment from the flanking non-coding or intronic region of sNPF-R is fused upstream of a Drosophila core synthetic promoter (DSCP) that is followed by sequence encoding a GAL4 driver.

ScerGAL4GMR64H09 drives expression in around 40-50 neurons per hemisphere in the larval brain, six of these in non-insulin producing dorsomedial neurosecretory cells. Around 100 cells are labeled in the larval ventral nerve cord with larger cell bodies detected in the first abdominal segments and smaller cell bodies labeled in all abdominal segments. In adults ScerGAL4GMR64H09 drives expression in a majority of insulin producing and other dorsomedial neurosecretory cells as well as in antennal olfactory receptor neurons. In addition, ScerGAL4GMR64H09 is expressed in three cells of the hypocerebral ganglion express that project to the outermost layer of the proventriculus.

ScerGAL4GMR64H09 drives expression in 6 layers of the fan-shaped body (1, 2, 4-7). Expression is also observed in the nodulus and in the axonal projections of olfactory sensory neurons in the antennal lobe and in some insulin-producing cells of the pars intercerebralis. Co-localisation with sNPF protein is observed in 4 layers of the fan-shaped body (1, 2, 5 and 7).
