ScerGAL4GMR66A09 drives expression in mushroom body extrinsic neurons, including dopaminergic PAM neurons 13 and 14, that innervate mushroom body gamma lobe slices 1, 3, 4, 5, mushroom body beta lobe slices 1 and 2, and mushroom body beta' lobe slices 1 and 2. Expression partially overlaps with that driven by EcollexAGMR24E12 in 11 dopaminergic PAM neurons 13 and 14.
Inhibition (using Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP) of Scer\GAL4GMR66A09 neurons, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to 1 day prior to training and testing, significantly improves 3 hour aversive olfactory memory, compared to controls.
