Homozygous and Sox14L1/Df(2R)BSC136 animals die either as early prepupae (37% and 41%), with defects in anterior spiracle eversion and other morphological defects, as pupae (26% and 26%) that are often cryptocephalic with a failure of the legs and wings to elongate properly, and often show a failure to tan, or as pharate adults (37% and 33%) which show similar phenotypes to animals dying at earlier stages as well as a pinhead phenotype. In most cases, terminal differentiation of the abdomen is not seen.
Sox14L1/Df(2R)BSC136 is rescued by Sox14+t8
