Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a 6.2kb deletion that extends downstream of the original insertion site, removing exon 2-7 of Nak (including the kinase domain).
The complexity of the dendrites of dorsal dendritic arborisation (da) neurons is strongly compromised in mutant larvae; although lower order dendrites remain properly projected, higher-order dendrites are absent or shortened, and some of the shortened dendrites appear clustered.
Homozygous ddaC neuron single cell clones show shortening and reduction of dendritic branches, with dendrites in medial and distal regions being affected.
Nak2 is rescued by Scer\GAL4elav-C155/NakUAS.cCa
Expression of NakScer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 rescues the dendritic defects seen in the dorsal dendritic arborisation neurons of Nak2 larvae.
