Description

Imprecise excision of the P{SUPor-P} element in P{SUPor-P}CG31344KG02618 resulted in a 1602bp deletion which removes the first exon, the second exon and part of the third exon of Caf1, leaving only the third exon of the coding region and the 3'UTR

Comment:

Inferred boundaries of a 2244 bp deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{SUPor-P}CG31344KG02618, which removes most of the Caf1-55 coding region.

Detailed Description

Homozygous Caf1p55-2 mutants are 1-2 days developmentally delayed compared to wild type and the body size is greatly reduced. Some mutant larvae survive for up to 6-8 days, but they never undergo pupariation.

Caf1p55-1/Caf1p55-2 mutants are 1-2 days developmentally delayed compared to wild type and the body size is greatly reduced. Some mutant larvae survive for up to 6-8 days, but they never undergo pupariation.

Homozygous mutant Caf1p55-2 GSC clones are lost more quickly than in controls. TUNEL staining shows that this is due to differentiation rather than apoptosis.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

CG31344tWa is unable to rescue the lethality seen in homozygous Caf1p55-2 mutants.

Caf1p55-2/+ does not affect the ectopic sex comb phenotype seen in Pc15 heterozygotes.

Comments

Expression of Caf1+t1.3p55 fully rescues the lethality and developmental delay phenotypes seen in Caf1p55-1/Caf1p55-2 mutants.

Expression of Caf1t0.5p55 is unable to rescue the lethality and developmental delay phenotypes seen in Caf1p55-1/Caf1p55-2 mutants.

Expression of Caf11.3p55m partially rescues the lethality and developmental delay phenotypes seen in Caf1p55-1/Caf1p55-2 mutants. The rescued flies are fertile and can be maintained as a stable stock.
