    dpr11MI02231/dpr11MI02231 or dpr11MI02231/Df(3R)BSC193 third instar larvae have extra satellite (supernumerary) boutons at the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) compared to wild type and heterozygotes (measured at muscle 4). dpr11MI02231/Df(3R)BSC193 third instar larvae show significant increases in miniature excitatory postsynaptic potential (mEPSP) amplitude and frequency (but no difference in evoked responses) compared to controls.

    Terminals of R7 photoreceptor cells of yellow ommatidia (yR7) are bulb-shaped and regularly arranged in layer 6 of the medulla (M6) in dpr11MI02231/+ adult flies, with less than 10% of terminals having nub-like overshoots that extend deeper into M6; terminals in dpr11MI02231/Df(3R)BSC193 adults have irregular shapes, are not lined up in a fixed position along the vertical axis, and show a significant increase (30%) of overshoots, even extending into the M7 layer. This phenotype becomes detectable in dpr11MI02231/Df(3R)BSC193 animals at 70hr APF (no differences compared to controls at 25 or 50hr APF).
