Top235-5/Top217-3, mh6/mh[+] has female semi-sterile phenotype
Top235-5/Top217-3, mh6 has female semi-sterile phenotype
mh6/+;Top217-3/Top235-5 mutant females show much reduced fecundity (as compared to wild-type or mh6/+ female flies), mh6/mh6;Top217-3/Top235-5 double mutant flies are even less fecund and stop laying eggs completely by day 20 post-eclosion. Both the mh6/+;Top217-3/Top235-5 and the mh6/mh6;Top217-3/Top235-5 mutant females have ovaries of drastically reduced size, more so in the line homozygous for mh6.
Top217-3 shows interallelic complementation with a number of other Top2 alleles. When Top217-3 is supplied paternally, the viability in combination with each allele as follows (% adult viability of progeny is shown in parentheses): Top217-1 (22%), Top217-6 (64%), Top235-1 (22%), Top235-5 (93%), Top235-13 (77%). When Top217-3 is supplied maternally, the viability in combination with each allele as follows (% adult viability of progeny is shown in parentheses): Top217-1 (19%), Top217-6 (52%), Top235-1 (31%), Top235-5 (88%), Top235-13 (60%).
