Overexpression of daΔex1.Scer\UAS in mutant eye clones (under the control of Scer\GAL4Scer\FRT.Rnor\CD2.Act5C) results in poor clone growth, with these clones being rarely found anterior to the morphogenetic furrow. Their recovery is enhanced in a M/+ background. These clones show some ectopic neuronal differentiation and can accelerate the progression of the furrow.

Ectopic expression of daΔex1.Scer\UAS anterior to the morphogenetic furrow, under the control of Scer\GAL4Scer\FRT.Rnor\CD2.Act5C leads to neuronal differentiation by 14% of the cells.
