Specific insertion of P{Crz-GAL4.391} lacking expression in the abdominal ganglion (presumably due to chromosomal position effects).
ScerGAL4Crz.2fa drives expression in a few central brain neurons. In contrast to ScerGAL4Crz.391, it does not label the 2 pairs of interneurons in the abdominal male ganglion.
Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 650 nm (red) light) of Scer\GAL4Crz.2fa cells does not induce ejaculation in males and does not cause a preference for an illuminated zone over non-illuminated areas, similar to controls; activation in combination with a paired odor does not induce attractive olfactory memory, similar to controls; repeated activation over a few days does not affect preference for ethanol-containing food, compared to controls.
