AxnH504L.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG combined with AxnΔRGS.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG can rescue AxnS044230 mutants to adult viability and normal morphology.
AxnL501P.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG combined with AxnΔRGS.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG fails to fully rescue AxnS044230 mutants to adult viability. The survival of some of the rescued animals is extended into the pupal stage.
Expression of maternally deposited AxnΔRGS.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG reduces the hatch rate of embryos to 24% of controls. Examination of the larval cuticles reveal loss of some denticles and occasionally of an entire denticle band.
The hatch rate of embryos expressing zygotic AxnΔRGS.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG is not significantly affected. The majority of embryos complete embryonic development. About half of the animals complete development and reach adulthood.
Heteroallelic combination of AxnΔRGS.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG and AxnΔArm.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG rescues AxnS044230 mutants (maternal-/zygotic-) to viability. Cuticle preparations of the rescued embryos reveal a wild-type pattern of denticle band segmentation with only the occasional loss of denticles in row 1. The rescued flies exhibit normal wing formation without any abnormal loss or gain of margin bristles.
Maternal expression of AxnΔRGS.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG in AxnS044230 (maternal-/zygotic-) embryos almost completely restores the wild-type pattern of denticle belts, although a few row 1 denticles are frequently missing.
The majority of AxnS044230 (maternal-/zygotic-) mutant embryos expressing maternally provided AxnΔRGS.αTub84B.T:Zzzz\FLAG successfully hatch. However, all of the rescued animals die at later stages.
