Description

Sequence encoding a GAL4 driver followed by a loxP cassette containing a w[+] marker has been "knocked-in" to the mir-969 locus, replacing the mir-969 sequence. This results in GAL4 being expressed under the control of the endogenous mir-969 regulatory sequences.

      Stage 10 embryos of mir-969KI/Df(1)BSC352 mutant mothers have on average 25% fewer primordial germ cells than control embryos laid by heterozygous mothers. In addition, the range of PGC numbers is broader in embryos from miRNA mutant mothers than from controls.
