Flies expressing Tspo^VDRC.cUa via Scer\GAL4^Act.PU are viable, grossly normal and have comparable developmental timing to wild type.

Wing discs expressing Tspo^VDRC.cUa via Scer\GAL4^da.PU show a drastic suppression of cell death after gamma radiation, compared to controls.

Male, but not female, flies expressing Tspo^VDRC.cUa via Scer\GAL4^Act.PU show an extended lifespan over controls.
