An early termination codon (TAG) in the coding sequence of Bx.
Amino acid replacement: ??term.
abnormal size (with BxJ)
wing margin (with BxJ)
The abdomen of adult mutants is bloated and the crop is enlarged. This is a result of progressive food accumulation in the crop and is apparent one day after eclosion. The enlarged crop phenotype is not due to progressive excessive food intake, but rather correlated with a significant reduction in defecation indicating a defect in gastric emptying from the crop into the midgut. The muscles ensheathing the crop differentiate and pattern normally.
BxA523/BxJ wings are small and lack areas of wing margin. This phenotype is less severe than BxJ wings and is similar to BxJ /+ wings.
BxA523/Bx2 wings appear wild type. This phenotype is less severe than Bx2 wings and is similar to Bx2 /+ wings.
