    Description

Imprecise excision of the P{EPgy2}ALiXEY10362 progenitor insertion, resulting in a deletion that removes the start codon, exons 1 and 2, and most of exon 3 of ALiX.

Deletion that removes nucleotides 3R:23524881..23525741 (release 5 genome coordinates). Revision of data reported in FBrf0227451.

    Comment:

An 860 bp deletion resulting from the imprecise excsion of the P{EPgy2}ALiXEY10362 progenitor insertion, which removes the 5' end of the ALiX gene. The deleted sequences map to 3R:23524881..23525741 (in release 5 coordinates).

    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Approximately 60% of mutant egg chambers contain 32 germ cells. These egg chambers contain an oocyte with 5 ring canals.

The fraction of mutant female germline stem cells (GSCs) which contain a spectrosome is smaller than wild type. The fraction of mutant GSC-cystoblast (CB) pairs with a midbody ring is reduced and mutant GSC-CB pairs with a midbody are not seen. More than half of the mutant female GSCs show abscission defects: linear or branched chains of GSCs are seen in approximately 20% and 40% of cases and approximately 2% of the cells are polyploid.

Approximately 40% of mutant male germline stem cells are found interconnected to chains of daughter cells.
