mir-1000^KO2/mir-1000^KO2-GAL4 adults are short lived compared to controls; two day old adults also show a defect in climbing ability compared to controls.

The number and size of synaptic boutons at the neuromuscular junction is increased compared to controls in mir-1000^KO1/mir-1000^KO2-GAL4 larvae.

The climbing defects of two day old mir-1000^KO2/mir-1000^KO2-GAL4 adults are rescued by expression of VGlut^GD834 under the control of Scer\GAL4^{mir-1000-KO2-GAL4}. The amount of Caspase-3 positive cells in the brain is reduced, and lifespan is increased (although not to control levels).
