      An increased number of intestinal stem cells (ISCs) and enteroblasts are seen in the posterior midguts of adult flies expressing brmScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130. The number of mitotic cells is also increased. After two days of brmScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG expression large EC-like cells are observed in ISC clones, indicating that the ISCs are undergoing precocious differentiation compared to controls.

      Expression of brmScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 does not affect the increase in intestinal stem cells (ISCs) seen in flies treated with dextran sulfate sodium (DSS).
