Detailed Description

Gr64fLEXA homozygous, but not heterozygous, mutant adult females have a significant increase in preference for softer 100 mM sucrose-containing, but not plain, agarose for egg laying, compared to controls; mutant females also have a significant reduction in preference for 100 mM sucrose-containing (rather than plain) agarose for egg laying, compared to controls.

Homozygous Gr64fLEXA mutant flies exhibit a reduced proboscis extension response to arabinose, glucose and trehalose upon stimulation of the tarsal taste sensilla. The responses to arabinose, glucose and fructose are reduced upon stimulation of the labial sensilla.
