Description

Twenty miRNA binding sites with mismatches at positions 9-12 (creating a "Sponge", designed to sequester miRNAs and thus knocking-down endogenous miRNA activity) are placed in the 3'UTR of mCherry under the control of 10 Gal4 UAS binding sites.

      The expression of mir-277sponge.V2.UAS.mCherry under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW leads to a small but significant decrease in flight distance, associated with a significant decrease in indirect flight muscle area, but has no significant effects on lifespan or adult climbing ability, as compared to controls.
