Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1^{Cs.IVS.20xUAS.Venus} with 660 nm (red) light) of Scer\GAL4^VT025803 cells in larvae significantly induces backwards locomotion, compared to controls, and can reverse the propagation of muscle contraction part way through peristalsis; the increase in backwards locomotion is significantly suppressed when expression is restricted to a smaller subset of cells using Scer\GAL80^tsh-GAL80 or Scer\GAL80^ChAT.3.3P.
