Expression of Hsc70-4wt.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU results in an increase in endosomal microautophagy at the larval neuromuscular junction compared to controls. Macroautophagy, synaptic vesicle endocytosis and proteasomal activity are not significantly different from wild type. Ultrastructurally, the neuromuscular junctions show a significant increase in the number of multivesicular bodies (MVBs) per bouton area and a significant increase in the number of intraluminal vesicles per MVB area.

The size of the readily releaseable vesicle pool is significantly increased.
