      Sox21aJC2/Sox21aJC2 mutants are viable and fertile. In newly eclosed flies, general gut morphology and cellular make up of the monolayer midgut epithelium is largely normal. As flies become older, tumors are frequently observed in both the anterior and posterior midgut, and both tumor incidence and size increase with age. Tumors are mainly composed of intestinal stem cells and enteroblasts.
