Description

Deletion within upd3 that extends from +3476 to +6706 relative to the start codon. This is predicted to produce a truncated polypeptide consisting of the first 217 amino acids of upd3 plus 7 C-terminal amino acid residues.

Comment:

Deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{XP}upd3d00871 which removes sequences between +3476 and +6706 relative to the ATG start codon.

Detailed Description

Reference

upd3Δ9 homozygotes are viable and display increased longevity compared to wild-type controls. However, the increase in the rate of intestinal stem cells (ISC) division in the midgut in response to bacterial infection observed in wild-type controls does not occur in upd3Δ9 homozygote adults.

Comments

The failure of upd3Δ9 homozygote adults to increase the rate of intestinal stem cells division upon challenge by bacterial infection in the midgut (as is normally seen in wild-type) is rescued by expression of upd3Scer\UAS.P\T.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4upd3.PZ (using tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the stage of expression).
