Expression of upd3Scer\UAS.P\T.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 (in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage) results in a significant increase in the number of mitotic cells in the midgut, as compared to controls.

Expression of upd3Scer\UAS.P\T.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4upd3.PZ (using tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the stage of expression) results in an increase in the rate of intestinal stem cells division in the adult midgut.

Co-expression of bunGD1392 or MadmGD7155 suppresses the increased number of mitotic cells seen in the midguts of flies expressing upd3Scer\UAS.P\T.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130.

Comments

The failure of upd3Δ9 homozygote adults to increase the rate of intestinal stem cells division upon challenge by bacterial infection in the midgut (as is normally seen in wild-type) is rescued by expression of upd3Scer\UAS.P\T.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4upd3.PZ (using tub-Gal80[ts] to limit the stage of expression).
