Expression of TorsindsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ driven by Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PL, Scer\GAL4C57 or Scer\GAL4elav-C155 results in significant increases in the number of type I boutons at the larval neuromuscular junction, compared to controls. Flies with expression of TorsindsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ driven by Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PL have shorter lifespans and show significant locomotor deficits starting at 3 days old and worsening with age compared to controls (or flies expressing TorsinScer\UAS.cNa). Flies with expression of TorsindsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ driven by Scer\GAL4C57 have significantly shorter lifespans than controls (but not compared to flies expressing TorsinScer\UAS.cNa) and show significant locomotor deficits starting at 3 days old and worsening with age. Flies with expression of TorsindsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ driven by Scer\GAL4elav-C155 have significantly shorter lifespans than controls but do not show consistent significant locomotor deficits even by day 12. Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PL>TorsindsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ flies treated with hydrogen peroxide show a significant increase in the hazardous ratio, but no difference in response to paraquat, compared to controls.
