Expression of sonaScer\UAS.cKa under the control of any of the following: Scer\GAL4en.PU, Scer\GAL4ptc.PU, Scer\GAL4nub.PU, Scer\GAL4GMR.PU, Scer\GAL4wg.PU, Scer\GAL430A and Scer\GAL4sona-NP5284 results in increased lethality at various stages of development and/or loss or malformation of appendages: Expression under the Scer\GAL4nub.PU driver leads to wing loss, to eye loss under the Scer\GAL4GMR.PU driver, to small wings and disrupted ocellar bristles under Scer\GAL4wg.PU and to impaired larval trachea and small and weak adults when expressed under Scer\GAL4sona-NP5284.

Expression of sonaScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.PU as well as its transient expression under the control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU (using UAS-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to late third larval instar/early pupa stage) has no effect on adult wing morphology.

The notched wing phenotype observed in flies expressing wlsGD2418 under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.PU is fully rescued by co-expression of sonaScer\UAS.cKa.

Co-expression of both wgScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP and sonaScer\UAS.cKa simultaneously under the control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU (using UAS-Gal80[ts] to limit the time of expression to late third larval instar/early pupa stage) causes high degree of lethality and the surviving adults display wing phenotypes that include multiple ectopic bristles near the anterior wing margin neither of which is observed when wgScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP or sonaScer\UAS.cKa is expressed alone.
