4bp deletion within the Dis3l2 coding sequence.
4bp deletion within the Dis3l2 coding sequence.
cystic bulge (with Df(3L)ED201)
waste bag (with Df(3L)ED201)
The fertility of both male and female Dis3l2SK5 homozygotes as well as Dis3l2SK5/Df(3L)ED201 female transheterozygotes is strongly decreased, Dis3l2SK5/Df(3L)ED201 males are completely sterile.
The germline stem cell (GSCs) niche in the Dis3l2SK5/Df(3L)ED201 testes is not apparently perturbed and the number of GSCs contacting the somatic hub is similar to wild-type controls but the spermatid differentiation is impaired: the spermatid nuclei are poorly bundled in the basal region and the individualization process is flawed - no cystic bulges (CBs) are formed and the randomly moving individualization complexes do not form any waste bags (WBs) either. Similar phenotype (no CBs no waste bags) is observed in Dis3l2SK5 homozygotes and both Dis3l2SK5/Df(3L)ED201 and Dis3l2SK5/Dis3l2SK5 mutants show rudimentary seminal vesicle devoid of mature sperm.
Dis3l2SK5 has semi-sterile phenotype, enhanceable by Tailorc4-1/Tailorf05717
Dis3l2SK5 has semi-sterile phenotype, enhanceable by Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-6
Dis3l2SK5/Dis3l2SK5 is an enhancer of semi-fertile phenotype of Tailorc4-1/Tailorf05717
Dis3l2SK5/Dis3l2SK5 is an enhancer of semi-fertile phenotype of Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-6
Dis3l2SK5/Dis3l2SK5 is an enhancer of individualization stage spermatid phenotype of Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-6
Dis3l2SK5/Dis3l2SK5 is an enhancer of sperm individualization complex phenotype of Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-6
Dis3l2SK5/Dis3l2SK5 is an enhancer of cystic bulge phenotype of Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-6
Dis3l2SK5/Dis3l2SK5 is an enhancer of seminal vesicle phenotype of Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-6
The subfertility of Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-1 or Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-6 mutants and of the Dis3l2SK5 homozygous mutants is exacerbated further in double mutants and the Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-1;Dis3l2SK5/Dis3l2SK5 or Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-6;Dis3l2SK5/Dis3l2SK5 double mutants are completely sterile.
The spermatid differentiation defects observed in testes of Tailorf05717/Tailorc4-6 mutant males are enhanced by combination with two copies of Dis3l2SK5 : Like in the Dis3l2SK5 single mutants, no cystic bulges or waste bags are formed and the double mutants bear only rudimentary seminal vesicles devoid of mature sperm.
