Silencing (using ortlexAop.Tag:HA with application of histamine) of Ecol\lexAGr28b.d.PL neurons in adults results in significantly reduced responses of warm projection neurons (PNs) to slow, but not fast, warming, compared to controls; unlike in wild type controls, blocking inhibition (using picrotoxin and CGP54626) in adults with this silencing reduces responses of warm PNs to fast warming and increases responses to cooling. The same manipulation, in the absence of drugs, does not result in any substantial alterations in responses to cooling or warming in warm-cool PNs, compared to controls; unlike in wild type controls, blocking inhibition (using picrotoxin and CGP54626) in adults with this silencing eliminates responses of warm-cool PNs to warming, but not cooling.
