In CNS-removed larvae expressing cacRQ.UAS.EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155, NMJ neurotransmission does not show significant changes in mEPSP frequency, amplitude and rise time, or in EPSP amplitude and quantal content; larger spontaneous events are slower; there are no gigantic spontaneous events. Upon 30 presynaptic pulses, EPSP profiles exhibit shoulders but no extra discharges; EPSP shoulders are observed both in otherwise wild-type and cacHC129 mutant backgrounds.
