Description

Mobilization of the P{SUPor-P}pumlKG09852 progenitor, resulting in an imprecise excision with 12 bp residual P-element sequence remaining between the deletion breakpoints and the puml gene locus being devoid of coding DNA sequence from position 188-2369 relative to the transcription start of puml-RA.

Comment:

Sequences from 188-2369 relative to the puml-RA transcription start are removed by imprecise excision of P{SUPor-P}pumlKG09852. 12 bases of residual P element sequence remain at the site.

puml1 homozygous mutants have significantly reduced startle-induced climbing, compared to controls, with no effect on spontaneous locomotion, respiratory rate or food intake; they have significantly reduced survival under desiccation conditions, but significantly increased survival under starvation conditions, compared to controls, with no effect on survival under salt stress conditions; in the Malpighian tubules, there are more lipid droplets, which are significantly smaller than lipid droplets of controls, and significantly larger mitochondria, compared to controls.
