      vgCL1 homozygotes have vestigial wings. vgCL1 in transheterozygosity with Df(2R)Exel8056, Df(2R)vg-D, vg13A, vgnw or vgDJ1R22, leads to wing defects, while vgCL1 in transheterozygosity with vgCZ, vgCL2C or vgR5 does not. vgCL1 heterozygotes do not show wing defects, but mosaic individuals with somatic clones exhibit wing defects that are more severe (from wing notches to vestigial wings) the earlier the clonal induction.

      vgCL1 wing discs are small in size, with a reduced wing pouch.
